FAQ
Do you accept insurance? Which insurance don’t you
accept?
Yes, we do accept insurances. We are preferred providers with some
insurance companies and we also accept Medicare. Please call us
at 310-309-3721 to find out if we are a provider for your insurance.
We do not accept Medical or any liens.
How do I know how many visits my insurance covers?
When you call to make your first appointment our staff will take
your insurance information. They will then contact your insurance
company to verify coverage and will let you know the extent of your
coverage at your first visit. For Medicare patients, as of January
2006 there is a cap for physical therapy of $1740 per year.
What about deductibles and co-pays?
We are required to collect the deductible and co-pay from you at
the time of your visit. Your co-pay will be based on your insurance
policy and your out-of-pocket percentage. Your percentage will be
calculated based on our rates for Initial Evaluation and your subsequent
visits.
How long does each treatment last?
Each treatment lasts about an hour. The therapist will spend fouty
five minutes with you; the gym is then available for you to complete
your prescribed exercise program and to complete the treatment with
any modalities that you might need.
How long will it take me to get better?
It is hard to say how long it will take someone to see marked improvement,
but in general the more a patient complies with his or her exercise
program and makes prescribed lifestyle changes, the better and faster
the results will be.
What’s the difference between a physical therapist
and a chiropractor?
There are many kinds of physical therapists and many kinds of chiropractors.
Largely, the main difference is that chiropractors generally rely
more on adjustments (manipulations) , whereas physical therapists
focus on joint mobilizations in less forceful techniques. The bottom
line is that no matter whom you decide to use, you should only stay
with the health professional if you see marked improvement.
Can I combine physical therapy with other treatments?
Yes. Physical therapy works very well in combination with acupuncture,
massage therapy and many forms of exercise – Pilates and water
exercises are typical examples. Personal trainers may be a very
good addition to your life if you have hard time committing and
following an exercise program on your own. Sometimes other treatments
can be combined based on each individual needs.
Do I need a prescription from a doctor?
Yes. In order to bill your insurance we need a doctor's prescription.
It can specify as little as "P.T. evaluation and treatment".
However, a diagnosis by your physician is required. If you wish
to pay out-of-pocket a prescription is not necessary.
Do you do home visits?
Home visits can be arranged, but are not generally covered by insurance.
